Collaboration Agreement with National Taiwan University
On January 17, 2014, OIST President Jonathan Dorfan and President Pan-Chyr Yang of National Taiwan University signed a basic agreement of collaboration for future scientific and academic cooperation between the two universities.
The signing ceremony took place at the NTU campus, located in the city of Taipei, Taiwan. The ceremony started with President Yang’s greetings, followed by presentations by speakers from each university. In his presentation, OIST Provost Robert Baughman outlined OIST’s concept and its graduate program. The guests were then taken on a tour around the campus. NTU also organized a colloquium at which President Dorfan delivered a talk entitled “OIST Graduate University: Ground-breaking Physics in an Interdisciplinary Environment” for the NTU students of Physics and members of NTU’s cosmology and particle astrophysics institute, LeCosPA. President Dorfan said, “I am very pleased that OIST and NTU have established an official collaborative agreement. I was also delighted to have the opportunity to speak to students about possibilities of graduate studies at OIST.”
NTU is the 22nd university to conclude a collaboration agreement with OIST. This agreement provides the impetus to further advance OIST’s academic network in Japan and abroad.
