School Visit Program

For Elementary Schools in Okinawa

As part of its education and outreach activities, OIST offers a school visit program that inspires students’ interest in science and provides opportunities to encounter diverse perspectives.

The program provides opportunities for students to step beyond textbooks and tests and experience science in a fun and engaging way. Through the program, students can explore the unique aspects of OIST, including its cutting-edge research and internationally diverse environment. Every year, thousands of students visit the campus and discover not only science, but also a broader view of the world and diverse perspectives.

This approximately 60-minute visit includes a guided campus tour.

Eligible Schools Elementary Schools in Okinawa
Duration Approximately 60 minutes 
Maximum Capacity Up to 80 participants (Flexible upon consultation)
Fee Free
Application Period April – June 2026

Program

✓ Campus Tour (60 minutes)

During the campus tour, visitors can explore the spacious campus and its distinctive architecture and experience the unique environment of OIST.
*For safety reasons, elementary school students are not allowed inside the research buildings.
