Dr. Takayuki Yamashita recognized for work at OIST

Dr. Takayuki Yamashita, formerly a group leader in the OIST Cellular and Molecular Synaptic Function Unit led by Dr. Tomoyuki Takahashi, will receive the 2011 Japan Neuroscience Society Young Investigator Award. Each year, the Japan Neuroscience Society gives the award to a promising researcher who has accomplished significant research achievements in the field of neuroscience.

Dr. Yamashita, currently a researcher at the Brain Mind Institute, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), published a paper in Nature Neuroscience in July 2010 on the work he carried out at OIST.

In 2010, Dr. Yamashita also received the Promotion Award of the Physiological Society of Japan for Young Physiologists. Since 1999, Physiological Society of Japan has honored junior members for their research activities in the field of the physiological sciences.
