1. Housing lease contract Cancellation

Inform your housing agency of your move at least ONE MONTH PRIOR to your move-out day. Arrange a date and time for the final inspection a few days before your departure or on the day of your departure. If you have OIST as your guarantor, the Resource Center staff will visit your residence for the final inspection for translation and to ensure the residence is vacated smoothly.

2. Fire Insurance cancellation

Ask your insurance company to cancel your fire insurance via phone once your move-out date is confirmed. The fire insurance should be cancelled on the day you vacate your residence. The Resource Center staff can assist you call the insurance company with your presence in our office (Please bring your fire insurance policy to our office for this).

3. Home Internet cancellation

Contact the internet company once the cancellation date is confirmed. Also, confirm your final payment method with them. The Resource Center staff can assist you call the internet company with your presence in our office. Please bring your internet contract to our office for this.

4. SIM Card/Phone Contract cancellation

SIM Card

  • Timing of SIM cancellation and its policy varies depending on SIM card companies.
  • The final bill will be charged in the following month or two months after your departure depending on your payment method.
  • The line is likely to be disconnected immediately after cancellation request submission (depends on company).

Phone Contract

  • Please visit the phone shop to cancel your contract and complete the final payment if you have a direct contract with a phone shop.
5. Utility Cancellation

The Resource Center can help you arrange the Utility cancellation (water, electricity, and gas). The cancellation appointments can be made about 2~3 weeks prior to the cancellation date by phone calls. Please bring the companies information to the Resource Center.

6. Car Insurance cancellation

If you have bought the insurance through an English-speaking company, please cancel the contract by yourself.

11. Submit Move-out Notification

Please submit the move-out notification to your municipal office. The Resource Center staff can assist you prepare documents before you visit the municipal office.

12. Child Allowance and Child Medical Expense Aide Termination

Please visit the municipal office and cancel them.

13. Garbage Disposal/Over-sized Waste Disposal

You must dispose over-sized trash properly as the way your municipal office decided. Usually, either you can arrange a pick-up by a municipal office or you can bring them to a designated place by your own. Please find more details here.

14. Close Unnecessary Bank Account(s)

Please book an appointment with the bank branch to close your bank account. The Resource Center staff can assist you book an appointment with the bank branch.

15. Return OIST ID Card on your last day at OIST

Return to the Resource Center

16. Return your Residence Card(s)
