How to Arrange Beach Cleaning in Onna-son
Overview
- If you’d like to organize beach cleaning in Onna-son, you need to pick up the special volunteer bags from Shoko-Kankou-Ka(商工観光課:Commercial and Industrial Tourism Division)which is located on the second floor of the Onna Village Hall.
- The period from January to March is when marine debris is most likely to wash ashore during the year.
- We need to follow certain rules when organizing a beach cleaning activity - Please see below for details.
1. Separate Beach Trash
Please separate beach trash in the following 4 categories:

Video/cassette tapes
※ Please do NOT include anything natural on the beach such as drift woods, grass, seaweed
※※Dirtied plastic bottles are put into the burnable trash bag, clean plastic bottles are put into the recyclable waste trash bag.
※※※Lids and labels from plastic bottles need to be removed from bottles and put into the burnable trash bag.

* Big trash that doesn't fit in a bag can be left as it is with other trash bags.
2. Respect the Private Property
The paths leading from the beach to the main roads are dotted with private residences and lodging facilities. Please conduct the beach cleanup carefully to ensure that you do not enter or trespass on any private property.
3. Leave the Collected Trash
Trash bags can be left on the sidewalk where a garbage truck can easily pick up. Please make sure not to block the sidewalk for pedestrians.
4. Arrange Trash Collection
Please contact Onna Village Hall for garbage collection (098-966-1205) and let them know where you leave the volunteer bags.
