The Droplet and Soft Matter Unit explores the rich intersection of soft matter, droplet physics, and interfacial phenomena. Our research spans a broad spectrum—from designing soft materials to combat marine biofouling, to harvesting atmospheric water using Cheerios effect, and, more recently, uncovering the spontaneous electrification of water drops. Driven by curiosity, we combine elegant experiments with simple yet insightful models to uncover fundamental principles and create science that is both beautiful and useful, particularly across the interconnected domains of water, health, and energy.
