SEED Program:Sapporo Asahigaoka Senior High School visited OIST
Aleksandra Gavrilova(Optical Neuroimaging Unit), an OIST PhD student gave a lecture, and she introduced her journey as a researcher and explained the process of developing scientific thinking through research.
This was followed by a talk from Dmitry Kovalevskiy(Organic Optoelectronics Unit)
, who shared his motivation for pursuing a PhD and introduced his current research at OIST.
After the lectures, students participated in a hands-on activity titled “Bending Your Brain.” They were divided into four groups and experienced the full research process from experimental design and data collection to analysis and presentation under the guidance of OIST PhD students Dmitry Kovalevskiy(Organic Optoelectronics Unit), Sharon Babar(Synapse Biology Unit), Jack Featherstone (Nonlinear and Non-equilibrium Physics Unit), and Dmitrii Shipkov(Neural Circuit Unit).
At the end of the program, a campus tour was conducted, during which students visited OIST’s research facilities and learned about its international research environment.
