SEED Program:Okayama prefectural Tsuyama Senior High School students visited OIST
Students from Okayama Prefectural Tsuyama High School visited OIST for a two-day program.
On the first day, Made Benny Prasetya Wiranata (OIST PhD student / Geometric Partial Differential Equations Unit) gave a career talk, a science lecture, and a hands-on activity.
Students also joined a discussion session with OIST researchers and PhD students, where they exchanged ideas about pursuing a career in science and conducting research at OIST.
This was followed by a lecture on the theme of “Animals in Science” by Hugo Hoedemaker (Technician / Neuronal Rhythms in Movement Unit).
During the campus tour, students visited OIST’s research facilities and experienced its international and interdisciplinary research environment.
On the second day, students took part in a poster presentation session, where they presented their own research projects and received feedback from OIST PhD students.
They also attended a career talk by Yulia Scherbakova (OIST PhD student / Microbial and Ecosystem Ecology Unit), who introduced her research at OIST.
Later in the program, students joined a hands-on activity on medical suturing under the guidance of Dr. Aysen Gurkan Ozer (Science Education Program Developer / Outreach Section) gaining practical experience through this interactive session.
