SEED Program: Hakuyo Senior High School vistited OIST

Kanagawa Prefectural Hakuyo High School visited OIST.

21 Hakuyo High School Students participated in a full-day program. They attended a lecture and hands-on activity on sound wave physics and wave mechanics, using a loudspeaker, led by OIST PhD student Shuma Oya(Experimental Quantum Information Physics Unit).The students also attended a talk by OIST PhD student Rikako Ozaki(pi-Conjugated Polymers Unit), who shared her research and her personal journey toward pursuing a doctoral degree.

In the afternoon, an additional 47 students participated the program to attend a lecture by Associate Professor Akimitsu Narita(Organic and Carbon Nanomaterials Unit), a graduate of Hakuyo High School. The students engaged in group discussions with OIST PhD students on various scientific topics based on themes they had prepared in advance. The program concluded with a campus tour, giving students the opportunity to explore OIST’s research environment and experience.
