Okinawa Prefecture Children’s Science and Technology Talent Development Program: Remote Island Caravan
On December 22 and 23, 2025, OIST participated in the Remote Island Caravan, an educational outreach program conducted as part of the Okinawa Prefecture Children’s Science and Technology Talent Development Program.
On December 22, Dr. Jeffrey Queisser from OIST delivered a special lecture to 16 pupils at Kuroshima Elementary School and 19 pupils at Ishigaki Arakawa Children’s Center. On the following day, December 23, the program continued at Gusukube Elementary School on Miyako Island, where 33 pupils took part in Dr. Jeffrey Queisser’s robotics lecture.
The special lectures featured interactive hands-on activities using motion capture technology, allowing participants to engage directly with robots used in research at OIST.
Through our participation in the Remote Island Caravan, we provided children on those remote islands with a valuable opportunity to experience cutting-edge scientific research firsthand.
