OIST Science Studio

OIST Science Studio

Opened in October 2025, the OIST Science Studio is located within the Yomitan Village Information Center Library “Yun-Lab Miraikan.”

In just three months after opening, the OIST Science Studio has already become a vibrant hub for community-based science learning:

  • Delivered over 75 hands-on STEM activities
  • Welcomed more than 10,000 visitors per month
  • Attracted over 80,000 visitors in its opening month alone

OIST Science Studio has transformed STEM from something perceived as “academic” into an interactive and accessible experience for families and students.

Visitors do not simply observe science—they actively experiment, explore, and engage directly with researchers.

As a result, OIST has successfully created a high-impact public science hub, significantly expanding access to STEM across Okinawa.

Your support will help:

  • Maintain free public access
  • Develop new exhibits and hands-on activities
  • Sustain operations and outreach to schools and community groups
