I want OIST to play a part in Okinawa’s future. I want OIST and the society of Okinawa to deepen their relationship and work together for a better future.
Imano Family
I hope our family gift [to OIST’s coral research] is a good way to keep all of us together in spirit and contribute to the lasting beauty of the ocean and our environment.
Tatsuo Kawasaki
I really appreciate OIST’s proactive responses [to COVID] that have shown how basic science can have positive impact when it really matters. The OIST team that is by design very international, cross-cultural, multi-religious, has demonstrated what it means to be good citizens and what one can do in time of needs. I felt a sense of pride being a part of OIST's initiatives.
Orchid Bounty Fund
OIST brings together top-notch researchers from around the world to conduct cutting-edge research. Its contribution to the Okinawan community is extremely valuable and meaningful. OIST's activities to conserve the natural environment of Okinawa and to support career development for future female scientists are particularly remarkable, and we are pleased to make contributions to them.

I enthusiastically support the concept and mission [of OIST]. I believe OIST can lead Japanese science to a better place, in terms of global recognition, but realize that much work remains to be done and that Japanese government funding, while generous, is limited in amount and restricted in application. Private philanthropy has a crucial role to play in OIST's future. If not us, who?
