OIST Innovation is looking for a Manager of the Technology Licensing Section — a pivotal role bridging world-class research and real-world impact.

OIST Innovation — the technology commercialization arm of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology — is seeking a driven and experienced Manager to lead our Technology Licensing Section. This is a high-impact leadership role at the forefront of turning world-class scientific research into real-world innovation.

In this role, you will develop and execute multi-year IP commercialization strategies, oversee patent portfolio management and licensing activities, and build relationships with industry partners, investors, and patent attorneys across Japan and internationally. You will also serve as a key resource for faculty and staff on intellectual property policy, and contribute directly to OIST's growing innovation ecosystem.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD or Master's degree in a scientific or engineering field, brings at least five years of experience in technology transfer or related commercialization work, and demonstrates strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. Business-level English is required; Japanese proficiency is a valued asset.
