Cell Division Meeting 2026
From March 2–5, 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting the international meeting “Emerging Concepts in Cell Division Cycles – From Early Development to Cancer and Aging” at OIST. The meeting brought together an outstanding group of researchers working on different aspects of cell division, ranging from fundamental mechanisms of mitosis to the roles of cell division in development, cancer, and aging.
Over four days, we enjoyed a series of inspiring talks and lively discussions that highlighted both recent discoveries and emerging questions in the field. One of the most rewarding aspects of the meeting was the open and collaborative atmosphere. Many of the most interesting conversations continued well beyond the lecture sessions—during poster sessions, meals, and informal discussions around campus.
It was particularly exciting to see strong participation from early-career researchers, whose presentations and questions added fresh perspectives and energy to the meeting. Bringing together scientists from different areas of cell biology created a stimulating environment that sparked new ideas and potential collaborations.
We are very grateful to all speakers and participants who traveled to Okinawa and shared their work with the community. Their contributions made the meeting a truly engaging and memorable event.
