藤原 耕二

Koji Fujiwara is a leading expert in the field of geometric group theory. His research lies at the intersection of algebra, geometry, and topology, with a focus on the large-scale geometry of infinite groups. He is particularly interested in group growth and projection phenomena, and combines deep geometric insight with algebraic techniques to study families such as hyperbolic groups, mapping class groups, and their variants. His recent work has uncovered new structures in the growth rates of groups. He was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in 2018 and currently serves as Chief Editor of the Journal of the Mathematical Society of Japan. He also runs a long-standing outreach program, Journalist in Residence, which has connected mathematics with the broader public for over a decade.
