School Aged Program

Service

The School Aged Program (SAP) provides a safe and engaging environment with both structured enrichment activities and supervised free play for children in Elementary School grades 1-6, of all OIST staff and students. The SAP is dedicated to providing opportunities for children to become independent explorers and learners and to work with each other in a community of mutual support and respect.

Afterschool Program hours of operation: Monday to Friday 14:30- 18:00

Holiday Program hours of operation: Monday to Friday 8:00/9:30- 18:00

(except Japanese holidays, OIST holidays and staff training days)

Occasional Care for OIST employees or invited Guests and Early Serive Childcare from 13:00 for early school release days may be arranged may be available by prior arrangement.

Eligibility

Children of OIST employees and students who are enrolled in grades 1-6.

Visiting faculty, postdoctoral fellows, intern students and participants in events held on campus and other kinds of guests may be given access to the SAP programs for their children.

Facility

The School Aged Program (SAP) is located in the OIST campus in the Village Center. The SAP has 2 classrooms, Muribushi Class for elementary children in grades 1-2 and Tingara Class for children i grades 3-6. Children play outside in the grass area of the Village Center.
