Single-Cystal X-ray Diffractometer

The XtaLAB PRO series diffractometers feature HPAD detectors for shutterless, low-noise data collection on crystals from small molecules to macromolecules. Flexible X-ray sources enhance flux and versatility.

Enclosure housing an X-ray diffraction apparatus for single crystals

The XtaLAB PRO series is a high-performance family of single crystal diffractometers designed for applications from small molecules to macromolecules. Central to its design is the Hybrid Pixel Array Detector (HPAD), specifically the PILATUS 200K, which enables direct X-ray photon counting without phosphor conversion, achieving near-zero noise, high dynamic range, and ultra-fast readout. This allows shutterless data collection, eliminating shutter delays and overload rescans, significantly reducing experiment time compared to CCD or CMOS systems. The HPAD’s "top-hat" point spread function excels in resolving large unit cells and capturing weak reflections from poorly diffracting crystals. The system supports multiple X-ray source configurations: microfocus sealed tubes (Cu/Mo), sealed tubes with SHINE optics, or high-flux rotating anodes such as the MicroMax-007 HF and FR-X for challenging samples. A kappa goniometer and a large, adaptable enclosure allow convenient access and support in-situ mounting of air- and temperature-sensitive samples. By combining speed, flexibility, and high data quality, the XtaLAB PRO offers performance approaching synchrotron beamline standards for diverse crystallographic needs.

Features

  • Hybrid Pixel Array Detector (HPAD): PILATUS 200K standard; direct photon counting, near-zero noise, high dynamic range, and fast readout for shutterless data collection.
  • Shutterless Mode: Reduces data acquisition time by eliminating shutter operations and overload handling, outperforming CCD and CMOS detectors.
  • Accurate Weak Data Measurement: Low noise enables longer exposures for poorly diffracting crystals without signal swamping.
  • Flexible X-Ray Sources: Options include Cu/Mo microfocus sealed tubes, standard sealed tubes with SHINE optics, or rotating anodes (MicroMax-007 HF, FR-X) for up to 30-fold flux increase.
  • Kappa Goniometer: Provides easy access for crystal mounting and supports air/temperature-sensitive samples.
  • Enclosure Design: Spacious interior for microscope and dewar integration, improving workflow for sensitive experiments.
  • Versatile Applications: Suitable for small molecules, MOFs, and biological macromolecules; resolves large unit cells (e.g., 462Å).
  • Dual-Source Capability: Easy switching between wavelengths (e.g., Mo/Cu) for optimized experiments.
