About the Workshop

This workshop aims to bring together leading experts from around the globe to discuss the latest research and facilitate the exchange of ideas in the fields of Macroeconomics, Health Economics, Labor and Family Economics, Public Policy, Demography, and Sustainability. We expect to have around 19 presentations in total.

If you have registered, but cannot attend, please read the information below:

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Participation fees will be refunded if cancellations are made in written form via email to workshop@oist.jp not later than 10 business days prior to the start of the workshop. Please note that there will be a fee of 3.6% if you decide to cancel and get a refund.

In case of a natural disaster (typhoon, earthquake, etc.), which results in the cancellation of the workshop, participant fees will be refunded after subtracting the processing fee of 3.6%.

Presenters will stay at the Moon Beach Hotel

limited number of rooms is available free of charge for non-presenting participants. Please indicate if you would like to apply during registration. Please note that if the demand for free rooms exceeds the supply, preference for free accommodation will be given to PhD students and early career researchers. 

Non-presenting participants who cannot be accommodated on campus are kindly requested to book their own accommodation.

We recommend staying between the Fuchaku and Tancha area, where many hotels are located.

Excursion 

On March 20, after the talks, we will go on an afternoon excursion. We’ll travel by bus with an English-speaking guide to the north of Okinawa, stopping first at a family-run restaurant for an authentic Okinawan (vegetarian) lunch. We will then continue to our main destination: Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium.

Please note that the aquarium admission fee (currently 2,180 JPY) is not included in the registration fee.

At the destination, participants will have free time to explore the aquarium and the surrounding park area at their own pace.

Churaumi Aquarium is located within Okinawa Expo Park, which also offers several nearby attractions:

Emerald Beach

Tropical Dream Center

There is also a Souvenir Shop at Aquarium and several food and drinks options.

After the excursion, the bus will take us to the Moon Beach Hotel, where we will gather for the Goodbye Dinner.
