cf-esi 3D ant model created in Blender from micro-CT scan

This is a 3D render from Blender using a micro-CT scan from the "Biodiversity and Biocomplexity Unit" at OIST. Original CT Scan from Cong Liu, 3D-Model made by Kenneth Dudley. CT scan was cleaned to replace missing portion of leg where it was pinned, clean geometry, and textures added via nodes and vertex shaders in Blender Cycles in accordance with high quality reference z-stacked photograph.

STEPS - Visualization toolkit

In the upper left box you can see all parts of the neuron in this model, the external structure and internal compartment (ER) that holds calcium (yellow), and the proteins involved in opening the calcium channel (blue, bright magenta and dark magenta). In the other boxes, you can see the calcium or each protein separately to watch their movements and activation. In the bottom center, you can see the numerical data in real time as the model runs.

Higher Order Mode Video
