SEED Program: Yupparaj Wittayalai School, Thailand visited OIST

On 18th May 2026, 9 students from Yupparaj Wittayalai School, Thailand students visited OIST.

Students from Yupparaj Wittayalai School visited OIST and experienced its research environment through career talks, scientific lectures, research presentations, and lab visit.
 
OIST PhD student Shin Sun (Networked Quantum Devices Unit) gave a career talk, sharing what inspired him to pursue a PhD and introducing his current research at OIST. This was followed by a lecture titled “Quantum Cryptography: The Road to Absolute Security” where students learned about quantum cryptography. During the campus tour, students visited OIST research facilities and experienced its international research environment.
 
In the afternoon, students presented their reserch projects and received feedback from OIST PhD students and researchers.
 
In addition, OIST PhD student Konstantinos Tsaridis(Computational Neuroethology Unit) gave a career talk and scientific lecture, followed by a lab tour. Students also learned about the complex behaviors of cephalopods such as octopuses, squids, and cuttlefish, as well as how they recognize and process visual information and polarized light, and the neural mechanisms underlying these functions.
