SEED Program: Hyogo Prefectural Tatsuno High School visited OIST
On the first day, a career talk was given by OIST PhD student Tomoya Noma (Nucleic Acid Chemistry and Engineering Unit), who spoke about what inspired him to pursue a PhD and introduced his current research at OIST. This was followed by a career talk by Yichen He (Postdoctoral Scholar, Biodiversity and Biocomplexity Unit), who shared how he uses AI and computer science to study complex biological data. The students also visited Biodiversity and Biocomplexity Unit.
On the second day, Tatsuno high school students gave poster presentations about their research and received feedback from OIST PhD students.
In addition, Esteban Gabriel Fregoso Fernandez (Molecular Neuroscience Unit) delivered a lecture on neuroscience, followed by a visit to the unit’s laboratory. Through these activities, students learned about different fields of research and how scientists work across disciplines at OIST.
