Gil Granot-Mayer to Conclude Executive Role at OIST

OIST Innovation announces that Gil Granot-Mayer, Executive Vice President for Innovation and Outreach, will conclude his executive role at the end of October 2026 after nearly six years leading OIST's innovation function. Anna Nagamine will assume the acting role for OIST Innovation, and Gil will continue to support OIST in an advisory capacity.

Since joining in early 2021, Gil has helped build a stronger innovation function at OIST — a growing startup and entrepreneurship platform, incubators, deeper industry and investor relationships, and a clearer role for OIST within Okinawa's and Japan's innovation ecosystem. In this farewell talk, "Innovation from Okinawa to the World: Lessons for the Next Chapter of Innovation," he will reflect on nearly six years of building and strengthening OIST's innovation platform, and share insights to help carry that momentum forward — for OIST, for Okinawa, and for Japan's innovation ecosystem more broadly. 

To mark this transition, OIST Innovation will host a farewell talk on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM at OIST, with an online option available. Titled "Innovation from Okinawa to the World: Lessons for the Next Chapter of Innovation," the talk will reflect on nearly six years of building and share insights for the road ahead.
