On-Demand Shuttle Pilot

Announcement for OIST "On-Demand Shuttle Pilot"

  • Starting in November, the morning fixed-route shuttle service will no longer operate. Instead, the On-Demand Shuttle will be available from 8:30 AM, and users are asked to book their rides through the app as usual. The fixed-route shuttle service will continue to operate in the evening only.

On-Demand Shuttle Pilot (limited to OIST related people)

OIST is conducting an On-Demand Shuttle Pilot as part of the Sustainable Energy Testbed Initiative to explore more flexible and efficient mobility options on and around the OIST campus.

This is a part of pilot project of Sustainable Energy Testbed Project. This service is operated as a pilot demonstration and is available only to OIST community members. It is not a regular public transportation service. Routes, stops, operating hours, and other service conditions may be adjusted during the pilot based on operational needs and the objectives of the demonstration.

How to Use the Shuttle

The shuttle can be booked through the designated mobile application. Before using the service, please review the following:

Important Notes

  • This service is provided for pilot and demonstration purposes and is not a regular OIST shuttle service.

  • Use is limited to eligible OIST community members.

  • The service operates only within the designated service area and at designated stops.

  • Advance booking through the app may be required.

  • Routes, stops, operating hours, and vehicle availability may change depending on the pilot activities and operational conditions.

  • Delays or cancellations may occur due to traffic, weather, vehicle conditions, or technical issues.

  • Please follow the instructions provided through the app and by the driver.

  • Information collected through the pilot will be handled in accordance with the applicable privacy policy.

About the Pilot

The On-Demand Shuttle Pilot is part of the OIST Sustainable Energy Testbed Project.

Through this pilot, OIST is testing how on-demand mobility can improve transportation convenience and operational efficiency while generating insights for future mobility solutions in Okinawa.

The pilot also provides a platform for evaluating new mobility technologies and services in a real-world environment.
