SCORE! (Science in Okinawa: Research and Entrepreneurship) is a program designed to provide high school students in Okinawa with hands-on science education, foster an entrepreneurial mindset, and support English education and global talent development.

This year’s competition brought together approximately 40 students from nine high schools across the prefecture. Seven teams competed in the final round, and ten teams participated in the poster presentation session.

The top prize in the final round was awarded to a team from the National Institute of Technology, Okinawa College, for their project, “Development of a High-Performance Biocosmetic ‘Café de Okinawa’ Using Okinawan Coffee Grounds and Microemulsion Technology.” As part of their award, the team received a study tour to the United States as well as the opportunity to take part in an internship at OIST.

At the conclusion of the event, Professor Amy Shen, who served as chair of the judging panel, encouraged all teams to continue their efforts and further develop their ideas. With her message, the competition came to a successful close.
