New “Nature Zone” exhibition opens at Onna Village Museum

A new exhibition space, the “Nature Zone,” has opened at the Onna Village Museum, highlighting the rich natural environment of Onna and its connection to the local community. Through themes of the sea, rivers, and mountains, the exhibition showcases the region’s ecosystems and cultural heritage.

Among the featured displays are ant specimens from the OKEON Churamori Project, led by the Environmental Science and Informatics Section (ESI) at OIST.

At the commemorative ceremony on September 30, 2025, OIST President and CEO Karin Markides received a letter of appreciation from Mr. Kiyohiro Yoshitomi, Chair of the Onna Village Board of Education.
