OIST Logos on Salt

The OIST logo on the salt grain looks less clear than on the sugar grain because salt is more conductive than sugar, as shown in the bottom image. The top image shows the perfectly square salt crystal. Sasaki coated the salt in gold to make the salt grain more neutral, but getting an even coating is difficult because of salt’s charge.
