OIST Seed Program

As part of the OIST Science Education Outreach (SEED) Program, PhD student Anna Pavlovska from the Meitinger Unit welcomed students from Seishin Gakuen Super Science High School for an interactive introduction to cell biology and biomedical research. During the visit, Anna shared her scientific journey, gave a lecture titled "How Cells Divide and What Happens When the Process Goes Wrong", and guided the students through hands-on laboratory activities, including an introduction to mammalian cell culture.

The visit gave the students a firsthand look at how scientists investigate the mechanisms that ensure accurate cell division and how defects in these processes contribute to diseases such as cancer. We are grateful to Anna for her enthusiasm and dedication to science outreach, helping inspire the next generation of researchers.
