Notice about externally-led investigation

Following internal fact-finding, the OIST President today authorized an investigation into the past activities of Roz Forum where they involved the university.

This will be undertaken under the supervision of an externally appointed lawyer. The purpose is to establish thorough and impartial findings and assist the institution in learning from events and actions taken from 2022 and now. Commissioning this investigation implies no presumption or acceptance of wrongdoing. It seeks to address concerns raised within the community and in public, providing verified facts from which lessons can be drawn. This process will move forward free from emotive language or judgmental disposition. Enquiries will be conducted by independent counsel with professionalism and respect for all, and especially colleagues across OIST - faculty, students, and staff - who have been most directly involved or affected.

Until the findings and any recommendations have been submitted there will be no further media comment, but the outcomes will be shared.
