About the Symposium

本シンポジウムでは、社会的に価値の⾼い研究が直⾯する根本的な課題、すなわち明確な公共的利益をもたらす⼀⽅で商業的な採算性を⽋くイノベーションを、いかに持続させるかという問題に焦点を当てます。多くの研究者は、サンゴ礁の再⽣⼿法や ADHD の影響を受ける家族への⽀援フレームワークのように、社会的インパクトの⼤きい解決策を開発し、試験的に成功させることさえあります。しかし、初期資⾦が終了すると、それらの成果を⻑期的に維持・拡⼤するための明確な道筋が存在しない場合が少なくありません。これらの解決策は、⾃然に対価を⽀払う顧客や従来型の事業投資を引きつけるものではないため、その⻑期的な持続可能性は決して⾃明ではありません。本シンポジウムでは、このギャップについて率直に議論し、研究段階を超えても社会にとって重要なイノベーションを利⽤可能な形で存続させるための、実践的なモデル、パートナーシップ、制度的アプローチを探求することを⽬的としています。
