Title: Black hole thermodynamics at future null infinity

Abstract: The generalized second law (GSL) and its proof based on the monotonicity of the relative entropy between two nested algebras of observables, led to unveiling black holes thermodynamics near the event horizon. In this talk, after reviewing the seminal proof by Aron Wall, we present a dual statement from the point of view of an asymptotic observer near null infinity. Instead of the increase of the generalized entropy, one finds the decrease of the free-energy (or of the grand-potential), built upon the Bondi mass plus possibly chemical potential-like terms. In thermodynamics, such "second laws" charcaterises open systems coupled to a reservoir. We push the analogy further by showing how this dual GSL near scri can be obtained from the dynamics of open quantum systems contained in Lindblad's equation. This allows us to precisely identify the notions of heat and work in the dual GSL and to extract work from a Schwarschild black hole.
