Description

Cultural Event Series (CluES): GERMANY - Presented by OISTers from Germany

Cultural Event Series (CluES): Germany, presented by OISTers from Germany, will take place on Saturday, March 28, at the Conference Center (Main Campus) starting from 5:00 PM.
Join us for an evening of culture, music, crafts, and celebration. Don’t miss this chance to immerse yourself in German traditions!

Program
Part 1:  Interactive lecture on German culture and history (around 30-45 min)
Part 2:  Miniconcert of classical German music by Hokulani (around 20 min)
Part 3:   Workshops - Making lanterns for Saint Martin’s celebration
                                     - Making a Maiherz (for a May tree)
Part 4:   Carnival celebration with music, food tasting and costume contest!

At the end of the event, we will host a Cologne‑style carnival celebration with music. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Traditional carnival outfits often include colorful, clown‑like costumes, but nowadays anything goes. If you’ve always wanted to dress as a shark or finally wear that Pikachu onesie hiding in your closet, this is your moment. A small prize will be awarded for the best costume.

ALL members of the community, relatives, children and friends are welcome to attend this event. Entry is FREE, but we accept donations to help to cover the costs.
