The OIST Karate Club welcomes OIST staff, students, and their families to experience karate and kobudo (traditional martial arts) in Okinawa, the birthplace of karate, and to connect with others.
We do not follow a specific style; instead, we practice the basics of Okinawan karate, including fukyugata (普及型), the “universal forms” common to all styles.
Members who also train at dojos outside OIST are welcome to join, providing opportunities to interact with practitioners from a variety of backgrounds.
Both beginners and experienced martial artists are warmly welcomed. Join us to experience Okinawan culture and make new friends through karate.
Wearing a karate uniform is optional.
Practice Days: Wednesdays, 5:00 PM – 6:15 PM
Location: Village Centre Meeting Room
