The position

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST; see www.oist.jp) is a dynamic new graduate university of science and technology in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The university is located on 85 hectares of protected forestland overlooking beautiful shoreline and coral reefs. The campus is striking architecturally, and the facilities are outstanding (OIST campus video tour). There are no academic departments, which facilitates multidisciplinary research. Outstanding resources and equipment are provided and managed to encourage easy access and collaboration. Position summary:

The Cell Proliferation and Gene Editing Unit aims to understand molecular mechanisms of cell division and mitotic quality control in normal and cancer cells to determine tumor-suppressive mechanisms and cancer-specific vulnerabilities that can be exploited in chemotherapeutic approaches (https://groups.oist.jp/cellpro).

We are seeking to recruit a full-time staff scientist or postdoc with experience with mouse xenograft experiments and human cell culture. You will be part of a team exploring novel approaches to treat cancer.

Responsibilities
  1. Work with mouse xenograft and human cell culture.
  2. Drive and manage the research project
  3. Publish in high-quality journals
  4. Learn and develop novel technologies
  5. Present research data at internal laboratory meetings and externally at conferences
  6. Document experiments
  7. Supervision of junior staff and students
Qualifications

(Required)

  1. Experience with mouse xenograft experiments
  2. Team spirit and collaborative personality
  3. Communication in English
