The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST; see www.oist.jp) is a dynamic new graduate university of science and technology in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Position Summary
The Marine Biophysics Unit (MBU; https://groups.oist.jp/mbu) of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST; see www.oist.jp) seeks postdoctoral researchers in coastal oceanography.
The successful candidate will investigate physical dynamics of coastal processes that encompass both wave-driven littoral currents (rip currents) and wind- and pressure-gradient-driven continental shelf currents, including submesoscale eddies, around Okinawan coral reefs, extending offshore to where vertical boundary layers are separated and stable density stratification is significant. This research is a prerequisite to addressing many important research questions regarding biogeochemical and marine ecological processes.
Applicants must have been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in an appropriate field within the past 5 years and demonstrated ability in publishing results in peer-reviewed journals.
