OIST and the Okinawa Environmental Science Center have created the Ryukyu Islands Coral eDNA Atlas, a new online tool that maps coral distribution using environmental DNA collected from seawater samples. Covering 231 locations across the Ryukyu Islands, the atlas allows users to explore the types of corals found in different areas through an interactive map. The project aims to support coral reef research, conservation activities, and education by making coral distribution data more accessible.
