Let's Discover Rocks and Minerals in Okinawa!
OIST hosted a hands-on science workshop, “Let’s Discover Rocks and Minerals in Okinawa!,” at the OIST Science Studio.
Led by OIST geologist Mirona Chirienco, the workshop invited participants to discover the fascinating world of rocks and minerals.
After learning how rocks and minerals are formed and exploring some of their unique characteristics, participants took a closer look at a variety of specimens using microscopes and UV lights. Through their observations, they discovered the hidden colors, patterns, and beauty of rocks and minerals that are often difficult to see with the naked eye.
By taking a closer look at something as familiar as the rocks and minerals around us, the workshop offered participants an opportunity to discover the science hidden in everyday life and sparked their curiosity about the natural world.
Thank you to everyone who joined us!
