The Bottom-up Program for Seinor and Junior High School Students

The Bottom-up Program for Senior and Junior High School Students, designed to give students the opportunity to hear from OIST members and learn about the work of scientists, was held with the participation of 30 high school students from Okinawa.

During the program, OIST PhD student Kishin Inoue (iGEM OKINAWA) gave a lecture on ichthyology. Participants observed fish specimens and created detailed scientific sketches, imagining that each specimen represented a newly discovered species. Through this activity, they experienced the process of species identification, similar to that carried out by researchers.
The students also joined a campus tour, where they explored OIST's research environment and gained a deeper understanding of scientific careers and research at OIST.
