Expanding the World of Science Through Yanbaru: KAGAKUJIKAN2026

On April 25, 2026, “Kagaku Jikan 2026” was held at the Nago Museum.

The “KAGAKUJIKAN” event, held in alignment with Science and Technology Week, was part of the All Yanbaru Project.

At the event, OIST presented an exhibition and delivered a lecture titled “The Secrets of Insects and Leaves: Can Surface Structures Change Everything?!” at the Nago Museum. In the lecture, Fine Cedric, a Senior Staff Scientist from the Biological Design Unit, explained how the microscopic world, meaning all the very tiny things we cannot see with our eyes, is very important for animals and plants.
