SEED Program:Shinwa Senior High School students visited OIST
Students from Shinwa Senior High School(Kumamoto Prefecture) gave poster presentations on their research projects.
They presented their work and received feedback from OIST PhD students.
They also joined a campus tour, where they visited OIST’s research facilities and experienced its international and interdisciplinary research environment.
This was followed by a career talk by Mirona Chirienco, who shared how she decided to pursue a career in science.
Later in the program, students attended a science lecture and hands-on activity on the theme of “How Caves Record Earth’s Past Climate: From Minerals to Ice Ages.” Through observing and classifying minerals and rocks, they learned the basics of geology and explored how scientists study Earth’s past climate.
