In this workshop, you'll learn how to transform research, data, and technology into narrative beats that tell the right stories to the right audience. While the workshop centers on climate communication, the methods introduced are applicable to any research that aims to move people through scientific storytelling. If you're interested in delivering your message beyond the scientific community, we'd love to have you join us.

Lecturer 

Kathryn Taccone

Kathryn is a creative executive with experience in various industries across her unique
background in animation, video games, film, and theater.
She has a strong passion for climate advocacy and is a proud alumni of Terra.do. Her work in
the sector focuses on supporting climate communicators to build effective tools to move climate
policy forward in the US and abroad.
With over a decade of experience in character animation and creative storytelling, Kathryn has
worked on high-profile projects for game studios such as Electronic Arts, Toys For Bob, and
Anzovin Studio, contributing to beloved titles like Skylanders and The Sims.
Outside of work, Kathryn is a self-proclaimed digital nomad, dedicated to building strong
creative communities and exploring new ways to connect people through animation. She has
also picked up languages along the way, from Spanish to elementary Japanese.

 

 

Will Colón

Will Colón is a seasoned animation expert, co-CEO and Creative Director at Open Pixel
Studios.
With over 12 years of experience in 2D and 3D animation, Will specializes in leading end-to-end
production processes, ensuring seamless project execution and delivering high-quality results.
Will's diverse portfolio includes work with top-tier clients such as Disney, Microsoft, IBM, and
Spotify, helping them bring their visions to life through compelling animations and engaging
storytelling.
A dedicated educator, Will has served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Animation at The Five
Colleges and has taught courses in computer animation at Lighthouse Holyoke, empowering
students to hone their creative and technical skills.
Will holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Animation from Hampshire College and
has a passion for advancing the animation industry through leadership, innovation, and
mentorship.
Beyond his professional achievements, Will is a multilingual talent with proficiency in English
and, Spanish, driven by his interests in education, human rights, and the environment
