OIST x Apollo Science Kids Lecture “Discovering the Hidden Beauty and Science of Insects”

On Saturday, February 14th, 2026, a science lecture for children titled “Discovering the Hidden Beauty and Science of Insects” was held at the OIST auditorium in collaboration with Seita Sensei of Apollo Science Experimental Classroom. Cedric Aumont and Yi Ming Weng of OIST Evolutionary Genomics Unit delivered talks about the insects' colors and termites as part of the lecture. The lecture ended with a short workshop that invited participants to draw their own bugs and a few participants introduced them to the audience.

There were about 450 participants in attendance.
