The OIST Culture Committee is dedicated to supporting meaningful experiences that connect OIST with its surrounding community through the arts and culture. By celebrating creativity and fostering collaboration between cultural and scientific endeavors, we help deepen the understanding and mutual appreciation of arts and sciences that support the promotion of OIST and Okinawa as a global destination for unique cultural experiences.
We proudly spotlight Okinawan and Japanese artists and performers, while also welcoming internationally renowned cultural figures to share their talents and perspectives. These events are more than just performances; they are creating immersive experiences for diverse communities to communicate and connect beyond languages.
To bring this vision to life, the Committee actively partners with Okinawan academic institutions, cultural associations and artists, as well as with organizations across mainland Japan and around the world. Together, we are building a strong, supportive network that champions cultural exchange and innovation.
