Project Anemonefish Ecomorphotypes
Why do anemonefish exhibit such a wide variety of shapes, colors, and behaviors? The Anemonefish Ecomorphotypes project addresses this question by exploring the morphological, ecological, and genetic diversity of several anemonefish species across the Indo-Pacific. By integrating field data, genomic and transcriptomic analyses, and behavioral approaches, this project aims to understand how interactions with host anemones, local conditions, and selective pressures shape ecological morphotypes (or “ecomorphotypes”). This interdisciplinary project helps to better understand the mechanisms underlying pigmentation variation, symbiotic relationships, and species adaptation to their environment.
