A spiny chromis damselfish
A spiny chromis damselfish (Acanthochromis polyacanthus), one of the species the researchers studied, in its natural environment, the Northern Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The increasing frequency, duration, and magnitude of marine heatwaves can have detrimental effects on coral reefs and resident fish populations.
