Raman spectrum ‘molecular fingerprints’

By using a chemical analysis technical called Raman spectroscopy, scientists can generate ‘molecular fingerprints’ of microplastics. To identify the microplastic, the generated “molecular fingerprints” (red) can be matched to those for known plastics like polyethene (blue).
