In reply, Dr. Tomio Takara, dean of the Department of Engineering, stated “I think we can make a good relationship with OIST due to the fact that the Department of Engineering carries out research in similar fields.”

The Faculty of the University of the Ryukyus and OIST researchers make acquaintance

Dr. Jonathan Miller of the Physics and Biology Unit, Dr. Ulf Skoglund of the Structural Cellular Biology Unit, Dr. Erik De Schutter of the Computational Neuroscience Unit and Dr. Alf Wachsmann, Manager of High Performance Computing, gave presentations on their work at OIST. After the seminar, the faculty members from the University of the Rukyus and OIST researchers had a chance to chat individually about their research projects and possibilities of collaborations for the future.
