The position

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST; see www.oist.jp) is a dynamic new graduate university of science and technology in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The university is located on 85 hectares of protected forestland overlooking beautiful shoreline and coral reefs. Position Summary:

In Takebayashi lab (https://groups.oist.jp/stg/satoshi-takebayashi), we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who want to study iron organometallic chemistry and catalytic reactions based on the iron complexes and small molecule activation reactions.

This project will involve:

  • Synthesis of organic and organometallic compounds using a glovebox and organic chemistry.
  • Development and optimization of photochemical catalytic reactions using LED lights.
  • Analysis of compounds and reactions using NMR, SCXRD, GC, GCMS etc.
  • Hydrogenation reactions using pressure reactors (up to 10 bar).
  • Development of a photo flow reactor.

Qualifications

Ph.D. degree in organometallic chemistry or organic chemistry with focus on development of transition metal catalysis.
