Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Research Unit Technician, Quantum Machines Unit

The position

We are seeking a capable and motivated python programmer to work as part of our Proof of Concept (POC) team developing a commercialised quantum teaching system. Using Python to realise the goals of the team to interface FPGA hardware with microwave and optical systems, you will produce the code required to implement this platform.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python programming, especially in relation to hardware integration. Experience developing front-end GUIs and library/API development and maintenance will also be viewed favourably.

Responsibilities
  1. Support researchers in the development and writing of code relevant to the completion of the POC project.
  2. Maintain and manage code produced as part of the POC project.
  3. Collaborate closely with researchers to implement and advance the POC project.
Qualifications

(Required)

  1. Experience writing Python code.
  2. Excellent communication skills in English.
  3. Ability to adapt to local culture and rapidly changing work environment.

(Preferred)

  1. Experience integrating software and hardware.
  2. Experience with GUI design and production.
Compensation and Benefits

Expected Annual Salary: 3.5M – 7.0M yen

*This amount represents the expected annual salary range for this position, which will be determined based on the candite’s experience, skills and background in accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations.

Full-time, fixed-term appointment for 1 year. Contract initially with 6-month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed by taking into consideration the performance, conduct, and behavior of the Employee and OIST’s financial and other circumstances.
