On 21 February OIST launched a regular monthly series of colloquium style lectures on a wide range of topics of general scientific and social relevance with a talk by Professor K.R. Sreenivasan from New York University.

In the first of what we hope would become regular visits by all high school students on the island, OIST hosted a visit by 720 pupils from the Okinawa Prefectural Naha Kokusai Senior High School last December. On February 16, 310 juniors of the Okinawa Prefectural Kyuyo Senior High School visited the OIST campus for another day of exciting scientific exchange.

Now wrapping up its ninth annual session, the Okinawa Computational Neuroscience Course has earned a reputation as one of the best short neuroscience courses in the world.
