SEED program: Tatsuno High School visited OIST
Tatsuno High School Students presented their research projects in English and received feedback from OIST PhD students.
Dr. Mayuko Suwabe from the Environmental Science and Informatics Section gave a lecture on “Measuring Biodiversity” and the Students also participated in a hands-on activity to identify different species of ants and learned about the importance of measures against invasive species.
Furthermore, the students visited the Genomics and Regulatory Systems Unit guided by OIST PhD student Johannes Wibisana. They learned about the biology and cultivation of Oikopleura dioica, observed the organisms under a microscope, and deepened their understanding through various experiential learning activities.
